1996
ESAB’s first friction stir welding machine, SuperStir™, is supplied to Marine Aluminium of Norway.

1998
ESAB acquires a majority holding in the Polish company Ozas, which manufactures welding machines and spares.
A majority holding in Fersab, the leading manufacturer of agglomerated flux in Poland, is acquired.
ESAB acquires AlcoTec Wire Company in U.S.A., the world’s largest producer of aluminium wire.
ESAB receives a large order from Boeing and supplies FSW
equipment for welding fuel tanks for space rockets.

1999
ZAO ESAB-SVEL is set up in St Petersburg, Russia.
ESAB acquires the majority of the shares in Elektrody Baildon, Poland.
SIB S.p.a in Italy, is acquired. SIB is a production unit for non-alloyed MAG wires.
The Esab Group identity is replaced with the black-and-yellow ESAB brand identity.

ESAB-HANCOCK GmbH changes the company name to ESAB CUTTING SYSTEMS GmbH on a global level.
ESAB acquires an electrode plant in St. Petersburg, Russia.

2001
ESAB sets up a subsidiary in Moscow, Russia.
ESAB starts producing solid stainless steel wires in Vamberk
in the Czech Republic.

2002
ESAB establishes its headquarters in London, UK.

2004
ESAB's 100th Anniversary.

ESAB acquires the majority of the shares in the South American joint venture Conarco.
ESAB opens a new cutting factory in China.

2006
ESAB opens a consumables factory in Zhangjiagang, China.
As the first global company in the steel and welding industries, ESAB implements and achieves global ISO 14001 certification of a global Environmental Management System.

2007
A new sales company is opened in Romania.
ESAB acquires ATAS GmbH, a German software solution company.
ESAB acquires the welding & cutting division of Air Liquide Argentina S.A. (stick electrode products).
ESAB acquires the Bulgarian stick electrodes manufacturer Electrodes JSC.
A new agglomerated flux production facility was completed at ESAB’s SVEL factory in St. Petersburg, Russia.
ESAB wins two Frost & Sullivan awards; 2006 Company of the Year and Competitive Strategy Leadership Award.

2008
ESAB Holdings Ltd acquires Romar Positioning Equipment Pte Limited, an automation positioning and workpiece handling manufacturer in Asia.
ESAB achieves ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certification of its Environmental and Occupational, Health & Safety Management System.
ESAB win top Frost and Sullivan industry award, the "2008 Global Welding Consumables Customer Service Excellence".
